"The Dominican Republic reiterates its support to Morocco's efforts for a credible and acceptable political solution to the regional dispute over the Sahara," said the representative of the Dominican Republic at the annual meeting of the Committee of 24 (C24) of the UN.
He also said that his country "fully appreciates" the steps taken by the UN Secretary General to achieve, with all parties concerned, a realistic and lasting solution.
The diplomat also called on the parties to the conflict to maintain a spirit of cooperation in the political process conducted under the auspices of the United Nations.
The Dominican Republic welcomed, in this context, the appointment of the Personal Envoy of the UN SG for the Sahara, Staffan, while supporting his efforts to reach a compromise acceptable to the parties concerned.
