Mauritanian People's Rally, reiterated on Tuesday its and full support to the Moroccan initiative to grant the Sahara considerable autonomy within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty.

People’s Rally reaffirms, in a statement of which a was received Wednesday by MAP, his "backing and support to the initiative of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to grant autonomy to the Saharan provinces, a historic and wise initiative, likely to consolidate security and stability in the region. "

The party has also called on "all Maghreb peoples who aspire to security and stability in the great Arab Maghreb" to join the initiative of His Majesty King Mohammed VI because "it meets the expectations of the Maghreb people and union to face the challenges of the third millennium and what they implies in terms of building large regional groupings".

"This wise initiative opened a new opportunity to certain recalcitrant political elites, to revise their position regarding this issue known as the Sahara conflict which has lasted too long," said the party.

"It is now very clear that some well-known parties advocate the status quo in the Sahara because of their instability which they seek to hide through rigid positions on this issue, " says a passage from this release.

" People’s Rally Party and the Democratic Alliance denounce all positions supporting the so-called Polisario separatist movement," added the release.

A group of Mauritanian political parties, including People’s Rally ", had announced last May 16, their" firm backing and support to the royal autonomy initiative in the Saharan provinces, " believing "it is important for peace, stability and the strategic dimension of the region and respects the territorial integrity of Morocco.

People's Rally Party, Mauritanian Party of Renewal and Rally for Justice and Equity, stressed in a press release that they "continue to support the territorial integrity of Morocco, a legitimate right that matches history and denounced "all positions supporting the so-called Polisario separatist front."
