In a statement to the press after the interview, Mr. Lennmarker said that discussions between the two sides focused on the Moroccan autonomy initiative in the southern provinces and the European experience in resolving conflicts.
The Sahara issue was the focus of talks, he said, adding that Europeans work for a "win-win solution" that is beneficial for all parties to the conflict.
"I also explained on that occasion the experience of Europe in the field of conflict resolution," he said.
Mr. Lennmarker also chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Swedish Parliament, had earlier met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Mustapha Mansouri.
Statement:
"We talked at first about the situation in the Sahara and background of the dispute. We discussed experiences of interest to our region as well as experiences of other European organizations dealing with conflicts on the European continent. I do not know much about the Western Sahara conflict compared to conflicts at the European level. It is important for Europe to talk to the parties and try to find a solution to the issue without winner or looser, and beneficial to the parties. This is what we learned from the European experience "
