  The Moroccan proposal to grant large autonomy to the southern provinces of "is serious and credible," said Friday in Rabat, the President of the Malian President, Mr. Diocounda Traoré.



"We should approach this initiative in an objective and positive way in order to reach a solution which could be based on the Moroccan proposal," Mr. Diocounda Traore told the press following a meeting with the president of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS), Mr. Khalihenna Ould Errachid.

"Parties should move away from entrenched positions, and when there is a proposal of this kind we should accept it," he added.

Mr. Diocounda Traoré believes that "the Sahara issue, which has lasted more than 32 years, prevents brotherly countries and neighbouring countries to maintain normal relations".

" The Malian Parliamentary diplomacy, which has already intervened in some Malian conflicts particularly in the north of Mali, can make its contribution in the search for a solution to the Sahara," he said.

The Malian delegation has received during the meeting CORCAS chairman "new and complete information on this issue", he said, assuring that once in Bamako, "the delegation will convey the message and ensure that parliamentary diplomacy play a role in settling the Sahara issue". 

The president the Malian president, Mr. Dioncounda Traore, arrived Wednesday in Morocco for a five day official visit at the head of an important parliamentary delegation.
