This statement by Mr. Montilla wad declared after the meeting held with Mr. Khalihenna Ould Errachid, Chairman of the Royal Advisory Saharan Affairs.

"We, at the autonomous government of Catalonia, respect any consensual political solution and we believe it is possible to rely on the autonomy initiative proposed by Morocco to reach a definitive solution to this problem," said the President of the autonomous Catalan government.

The meeting between Mr. Montilla and Khalihenna Oueld Errachid has been widely covered by the Spanish press agency EFE, Europa Press, El Pais, El Mundo, El Periodico and other newspapers and online newspapers.

It took place in the presence of the Spanish ambassador to Morocco M. Luis Planas, the Vice-President of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Mr. Josep Luis Carod Rovira, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia, Ms. Roser Claver, Corcas, Secretary-General Mr. Maouelainin Ben Khalihanna Maouelainin and Corcas Vice President, Mr. Khaddad Moussaoui.

Mr. Montilla began Monday a three-day visit to Morocco at the head of a large delegation consisting of representatives of sixty companies and professional organizations and a number of departments in Catalonia.
