Foreign Relations Committee of Chilean Chamber of Deputies Voices Support for Moroccan Autonomy Plan

The Foreign Relations Committee of the Chamber of Deputies of Chile has unanimously adopted a text in which it voices for the first time its explicit support to the Moroccan autonomy initiative as the only solution to achieve a just and lasting solution to the Moroccan Sahara issue.

Chaired by MP Jaime Naranjo Ortiz, the committee unanimously adopted this text which deals exclusively with the latest developments of the Moroccan Sahara issue, in particular the recognition of the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco over its Sahara by the United States.

The Committee welcomed the US decision as "a historic and solemn act and a legal and political force that can promote peace and development".
