The Moroccan people celebrated this Wednesday, with joy and pride, the 65th anniversary of the Independence Day, an indelible and flagship date in the building of modern Morocco which commemorates the illustrious speech by late His Majesty Mohammed V, announcing the end of the protectorate and liberation of motherland.

Engraved in the history of the Kingdom, this unchanging epic will remain, forever, the ideal moment to pay tribute to the Alawite Throne and its people united behind its Sovereign, as well as to their tireless efforts in the uninterrupted struggle against the yoke of colonialism and establish a united and independent rule of law.

The eternal symbiosis between the Throne and its people was such that the deceitful and disloyal designs by the colonizer, who unfortunately believed that he could triumph by exiling the symbol of the Nation, the late HM Mohammed V and the royal family, did not resist.

“We are delighted to be able to announce the end of the guardianship and protectorate regime and the advent of freedom and independence”, declared the late Sovereign on November 18, 1955 on his return from exile with his family.

“We have shifted from the battle of the small Jihad to the big Jihad”, continued Sultan Sidi Mohammed Ben Youssef.

A real roadmap, this first speech of Independence delivered by the late HM Mohammed V before jubilant people, is the flagship of the Nation's commitment in the process of building a modern and free Morocco, both and so much so that the efforts of the people in the nation-building process were reinforced by the wise and far-sighted vision of late HM Hassan II, who laid the foundations for democracy, political pluralism and economic liberalism.

It was followed by the completion of the territorial unity in this case the recovery of Sidi Ifni in 1969, southern provinces after the organization of the glorious Green March in 1975 and then the province of Oued Eddahab August 14, 1979.

Along the way, the promptness in the establishment of the pillars of the economic modernization of the Kingdom and the consecration of the values of citizenship and the rule of law and institutions saw the light of day under the perspicacious leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, worthy successor of the late SM Hassan II and late HM Mohammed V.

Indeed, since his enthronement, the Sovereign has not ceased to work to hoist Morocco among the great nations in a framework of harmony and cohesion between the various living forces of society, in order to meet the many challenges of the 3rd millennium and strengthen the dynamics of the Kingdom as a reliable partner internationally.

The infrastructures erected since the accession of the Monarch to the glorious Throne, such as the Tanger Med Port and the Noor solar station, as well as the strategic plans launched under His wise leadership such as the National Initiative for Human Development or the Plan Maroc Vert, testify to the strong and resilient determination by HM the King and his faithful people to make development of Morocco today and tomorrow.

The secular and unalterable bonds of communion and harmony between the Throne and the Moroccan people continue to strengthen under the reign of HM the King, in favor of the safeguard and consolidation of the national achievements obtained thanks to the judicious royal and proactive vision.

The question of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom is rightly at the center of HM the King's efforts, notably through the proposal to grant autonomy to the southern provinces, under Moroccan sovereignty.

By celebrating, as usual, this glorious anniversary with pride and joy, the Moroccan people corroborate their irrefutable conviction of total adhesion and uncompromising support for the efforts made to preserve the territorial integrity of the Kingdom, and consolidate its unique position as a country providing peace and stability in the region.
