Algeria should be held responsible for human rights violations committed in the Tindouf camps by "Polisario" , since these violations are committed on its soil, with the blessing and under the control of Algerian military and civilian officials, said the Saharawi Association of Human Rights.

During a press conference held Thursday in Rabat, The association denounced the Algerian maneuvers to disperse and starve Sahrawis, violate their rights and use them for political ends, adding that history will remember these violations forever, since they constitute serious errors illustrated by forced abduction, death under torture, deportation and suffering endured by the majority of families living in these misery camps for three decades.

During the meeting, the association emphasized the complaint it had filed to the Spanish Supreme Court with the support of some association actors who suffered serious human rights violations in the Tindouf camps, and through which the association aims to shed light on the cases of hundreds of victims.

In this regard, the association said that during their visit to the southern provinces, members of the Barreaux de l'Espagne visited more than 50 victims who still bear scars of torture, and who delivered testimonies.

This action which seeks to bring justice to victims, comes after many initiatives taken before the Committee on Human Rights in Geneva, the Ministry of Justice and the Spanish government, since the majority of victims were born and grew up under the Spanish protectorate in the early twentieth century to the mid-seventies, it added, noting that the defendants amounted to 28 members including 23 Polisario members and 5 Algerian officials.

The association claimed a warrant to be issued against several leaders of those deeds, including, Brahim Ghali, the current Polisario representative in Spain, Louchaa Obeid, "Polisario" representative in Las Palmas (Canary Islands), Mohamed Khaddad, current coordinator with MINURSO and former chief executive of military security, Bachir Mustapha Sayed, Minister of Education, and Sid Ahmed Batal communication "minister".

The list of Polisario officials also include Khalil Sidi Mhamed, "minister" of the Colonies, Mahfoud Ali Beiba, Parliament chairman, head of the Polisario delegation for the negotiations in Manhasset, Mahmoud Ahmed Brahim, "Commander of polisario second military zone "and Khadoud Mohamed, Polisario representative in Italy.

At this meeting, a documentary on the serious violations of human rights suffered by sequestered Sahrawis in the Tindouf camps was viewed.
