Mf Fihri who participated in the meeting of foreign affairs, national defence, and Islamic affairs committee of the house of representatives, which dealt with the examination of the sector –based budget of his ministry; said that the Moroccan, Sahara issue has known, during the last two years, a positive evolution thinks to the Moroccan initiative for negotiating an autonomy statute for the Sahara region

Mr Fihri mentioned that the Moroccan proposal is a result of a substantial dialogue which took place locally and internationally, he reminded of the adoption by the security council of resolution 1754, which helped the launching of the of a new process based on negotiations, taking into account the latest developments concerning the Moroccan autonomy proposal which was seen as serious and credible by the security council.

It is in the framework of this new dynamics that both two rounds of negotiations at Manhasset during last June and august, and during which the Moroccan delegation insisted on the inapplicable of previous plans and proposals, and  made it clear that the Moroccan initiative, global and indivisible, constitutes a basis of negotiations, and a way out of the crisis, the minister added

During these negotiations Morocco achieved important experiences, mentioning the active and useful participation of the royal advisory council for Saharan affairs (CORCAS), a participation which has seriously shaken the myth of the representativeness of “Polisario”,and so-called “sahraoui people”

It is also in this framework that the meeting of the 4th committee of the general assembly of the UN took place, the minister added that thinks to the firm position of the Moroccan delegation at the time of negotiations with Algeria about the resolution draft, Morocco managed to impose a resolution that changes deeply the content, the referential, and even the approach that the committee used to follow, dealing with this issue since 1965

Resolution 1783 of the security council , adopted last October, remained devoted to this approach, it has not only protected our experiences, but also it strengthened , and guaranteed them , the minister added that all members of the council greeted the Moroccan proposal
