Algeria has to help settle the Sahara issue by easing dialog with the Sahrawis living on its territory, Said Khalihenna Ould Errachid, chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Sahrawi Affairs (CORCAS), adding the autonomy proposed by Morocco for its southern provinces "will be beneficial for all."

Errachid called on Algeria "to be up to what its says in affirming it is not a party in the Sahara issue and that the issue concerns Sahrawis, Morocco and the UNO."

"We ask Algeria to help find a solution that is beneficial for all," Errachid told the Belgian-Moroccan web site www.wafin.be. The solution "will help Algeria come out honorably of the crisis and the Maghreb of the impasse it is now in," CORCAS chairman said, stressing Algeria is "a necessary passage to dialog with Polisario."

The Algeria-backed "Polisario" has been claiming the separation of the Moroccan southern provinces, known as the Sahara, since 1975, when they were retrieved by Morocco from Spanish rule under the Madrid accords.

CORCAS chief stressed that the autonomy "is not only meant for Polisario, but for all the Sahrawis…," adding the autonomy project was drawn from successful world models but "corresponding to the particular specificities of the Kingdom of Morocco."

Errachid also said the Moroccan community living abroad can “do a lot for the Sahrawi cause”, inviting the community to continue defending « our national cause to final victory .»
