Morocco is a respectful country to the principle of human rights, at home in the southern provinces, different delegations who went to the Sahara have been able to circulate freely, and noticed closely the peaceful life in the region, underlined the Moroccan ambassador , and permanent representative at the UN in Geneva Mr Mohamed Loulichki
In an explanation before the human rights council after a one-sided intervention of the representative of an NGO in favour of the opponents of Moroccan territorial integrity, the Moroccan diplomat indicated that several people who returned from Tindouf in the framework of family visits could testify this reality “to the point that some among them preferred to remain with their families in different southern provinces”
As to the natural resources of the southern provinces, Morocco engaged, since the recuperation of its Sahara in 1975 huge efforts in terms of the economic and social development, which exceeds revenues generated by local resources, he revealed.
Mr Loulichki refuted the concept of a political –military conflict, making it clear that it is rather a regional disagreement which occurred after the recuperation of Morocco its southern provinces
In order to solve this disagreement, Morocco proposed an autonomy statute within the framework of the Moroccan sovereignty, as a political solution which was largely supported by the international community, and which is now the basis of the process of negotiations, the ambassador confirmed
