The Chairman of the Royal Advisory Council on Saharan Affairs, Khalihenna Ould Errachid, received yesterday afternoon at Corcas headquarters a large delegation from the Speakers of Parliaments of Central America and Caribbean Forum (FOPREL), which is paing November 14-16 2016, working visit to the Kingdom as part of 35th session of the Forum in Rabat at the Moroccan Parliament.


Corcas chairman and his guests exchanged views on the most important issues concerning the conflict in the Moroccan Sahara, in particular the practical and courageous solution initiated by the Kingdom, namely autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty, as well as the latest developments at the level of the United Nations and Africa.


 For their part, FOPREL members welcomed the efforts of the Kingdom in this direction, especially the participation of Saharawis in the development of autonomy, as a just solution that would strengthen territorial integrity and meet the aspirations of Saharawis to manage their own affairs; and called for support efforts to bring about a peaceful and final solution to the Sahara under the auspices of the United Nations.


 The meeting was attended by CorcasnSecretary General Dr. Maouelainin Ben Khallihenna Maouelainin, Parliamentary Counsel, Mr. Ahmed Lakhrif, corcas member and Mr. Moulay Ahmed Mghizlat, Corcas member.


 The FOPREL delegation included representatives of the 10 member states of the Forum whose headquarters are in Managua, capital of the Republic of Nicaragua.


 It should be recalled that FOPREL, to which Morocco acceded in 2014 as an observer, was created in 1994, and is composed of speakers of the parliaments of the following member countries: Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica Rica, Panama, Dominican Republic, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
