Gabonese foreign minister Emmanuel Issoze Ngondet reiterated, on Tuesday in New York, his country's unwavering support for the Moroccan autonomy proposal, a serious approach for a lasting solution to the Sahara issue.


"I reiterate my country's unwavering support for the Moroccan position over the Sahara issue," Issoze Ngondet told MAP on the occasion of a dinner offered by foreign minister Salaheddine Mezouar in honor of African peers taking part in the 70th session of the UNGA.

The Gabonese diplomat underlined that the broad autonomy proposal submitted by the Kingdom constitutes a serious approach for a lasting solution to the conflict.

"We encourage the international community, mainly the UN and African countries, to take into account this approach in steps they will take to help resolve the Sahara conflict," he said.

The Gabonese official also lauded HM King Mohammed VI's initiatives for Africa, underlining that the sovereign's tours in the continent's countries bring a concrete content economically and culturally.
