The Sahara issue is a Moroccan-Algerian problem and Polisario has no weight in this artificial conflict, said Tuesday speaker of the House of Councillors, Mohamed Cheikh Biadillah.

"If Algeria decides to reach a settlement of this case, Polisario cannot be agaisnt," said Biadillah, who was the guest of the MAP Forum, held under the theme "What new institutional weight will the House of Councillors have after local and regional elections? ".

The separatist theses are continuously supplied by Algeria, lamented Biadillah, believing that once Algeria will end its support, proponents of these theories will cease to demand separation.

The President of the House of Councillors stressed the need to conduct a census of the populations in Tindouf camps, adding that the refusal of Algeria promotes embezzlement of aid to people in these camps.

He said that the recent report by the Anti-Fraud Office of the European Union (EU) indicates diversion by Algeria and Polisario of international humanitarian aid for the sequestered in Tindouf camps.

International humanitarian assistance has been diverted in a "organized fashion '' for several years, the report indicates that the Algerian port of Oran is strategic for the organizers of these large-scale embezzlement.

Biadillah reaffirmed in this regard that the settlement of the Sahara issue through the implementation of the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco, adding that the plan gives broad powers to the people of the region, including the creation of a local government and a parliament as part of national sovereignty.

Autonomy is a strategic choice not only for the inhabitants of the Sahara but for the entire region, given the problems of security and resurgence of the terrorist threat in the Sahel and Sahara region, said speaker of the House of Councillors.
