Mrs. Kim Bolduc, new special representative of the UN Secretary General to the Sahara, said she was "very honored" to assume mission in Morocco.

"I’ve just started my mission in Laayoune and I am very honored to participate in this effort for peace in the region," Mrs. Bolduc told the press at the end of the interview she had on Friday in Rabat, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and cooperation, Mr. Salaheddine Mezouar and Interior Minister Mohamed Assad.

Responding to a question on the Moroccan autonomy proposal, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in the Sahara said "everything that can contribute to peace in the region should be supported." Morocco's proposal is "a very important topic that needs to be worked," she said, saying it will "help ensure that there is a solution that brings peace."

A release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation issued after the meeting between Bolduc Hassad and Mezouar said the two ministers expressed full disposal of the Moroccan authorities to provide support and assistance necessary for the performance of her duties in accordance with the terms of the telephone conversation January 22 between King Mohammed VI and the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon.
