The Chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS), received Tuesday at the Council, a European delegation headed by Gilles Pargneaux, President of the Committee of Cooperation and Friendship between Morocco and Europe, which performs this week a working visit to the Kingdom.


During the meeting, attended by Mr. Secretary General Dr. Ben Khalihenna Maouelainin Maouelainin and Khaddad Mr. Moussaoui, Vice-Chairman, Khalihenna presented to its guests the latest developments of the issue Sahara and the General Assembly support to negotiation process launched by the Moroccan autonomy initiative for the Sahara region. This initiative was proposed by Morocco to find an equitable political solution to the Sahara conflict. The seriousness and realism of the Moroccan initiative were confirmed by resolutions of the Security Council, 1754 in 2007 and 2152 in 2014.

The President of the Committee of Cooperation and Friendship between Morocco and Europe, Gilles Pargneaux expressed support to the Moroccan proposal to end the Sahara conflict. This solution will, according to Mr. Pargneaux, build a strong Maghreb Union based on good neighborliness, cooperation and peace. He also praised Moroccan model in the region with regard to the reform process in the institutional, human rights and socio-economic development fields.
