Sweden is a member country of the European Union, and therefore, those who voted for this motion will certainly act to undermine our territorial integrity at the European Parliament and internationally if nothing is done quickly, said Lahcen Mahraoui member of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS) and spokesperson of the Association in a statement to MAP.
Mr. Mahraoui warned against the machinations hatched by the enemies of territorial integrity, stressing that the adoption of this motion by the Swedish parliament is an alarm bell for our diplomacy in its official and parallel forms (parliament, political parties, trade unions and civil society) for a general mobilization to defend our territorial integrity.
Although this motion has no effect on the process of resolving the Sahara issue, it is challenging, said Mahraoui because those who made this motion and fought to impose it may tomorrow become members of the future government.
The motion of the Swedish Parliament has been criticized by the government and by several parties in Sweden, even those who are part of the opposition to the original text.
The leader of the Green Group in the Swedish parliament, Mehmet Kaplan, who belongs to the opposition which filed this text, has minimized the scope of the motion described as unconstitutional.
