El Othmani: Morocco cannot accept to be treated on the same footing as a puppet state, not internationally recognized

"The return of Morocco to the AU depends on the confluence of a number of conditions," said Saâd Dine El Othmani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, on the sidelines of the event «Africa Day in Morocco in 2012”, organized by the Council of African ambassadors in Rabat, Wednesday, May 30, 2012.




The minister believes that "the Kingdom of Morocco cannot accept under any circumstances to be treated on the same footing as a puppet state that does not exist on the map, not internationally recognized and not a member of the United Nations ".

The opening session of this event, was marked particularly by a speech by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. Saad El Din Otmani, focusing on the African dimension in the foreign policy of the Kingdom. In this regard, Dr. El Otmani said that "Africa Day" is an ideal opportunity to enhance cooperation and inter-African solidarity, adding, for this purpose, the struggle for liberation and independence by African leaders, who worked for the establishment of African institutions and the realization of economic and social development.

Dr. El Otmani said that Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, is committed since the beginning, to the construction of Africa making African cooperation and integration one of its top priorities.

This meeting was also marked by the speech by the Ambassador of the Central African Republic to Morocco and Dean of the African Group of Ambassadors, Mr. Ismaila Nimaga who reiterated, on behalf of the group, call to the Kingdom to return to "the large family of the African Union".

Mr. Nimaga also stressed the initiatives undertaken by Morocco since the 60s for the development of regional integration in Africa, required for any comprehensive and sustainable development of the continent.
