A group of Sahrawi protesters attacked, last Wednesday, the offices of the Polisario Front in Tindouf, claiming the resignation of the secretary Mohamed Abdelaziz, who is also president of the SADR, according to Misna (Missionary International Service News Agency).

The demonstration, which follows one on Saturday outside the Polisario offices leading to clashes and the arrest of three youths, emphasizes the discontent especially among the young Sahrawi over the lack of progress in negotiations with Morocco.

During the attack on the offices, the youths demanded the arrest of their three companions arrested Saturday, all members of a reformist group calling for change in the Polisario leadership and Aziz’s resignation.

Ahead of the resumption this month in New York of UN mediated talks with the Rabat government, President Abelaziz hinted “cautious optimism”, though many believe that if they should fail again a return to arms would be practically inevitable.

According to "the Newstime Africa Magazine," electronic magazine based in London, the UN bodies and UN agencies, World Food Programme (WFP) and UNICEF, deplore the catastrophic situation in the camps, because of the aid stock situation and due to harsh conditions of the natural environment in the camps.

The World Food Programme (WFP), quoted by the magazine, has spent several million dollars for to stay Sahrawis in the Tindouf camps.

However, malnutrition is still widespread in the camps, which is not good new now that money spent by WFP for the camps are down.

According to WFP, "the possibilities of reserves in the isolated desert environment where the Tindouf refugees live are extremely limited, forcing refugees to rely on international aid for survival. Malnutrition rates remain high, with acute malnutrition to a critical level of 18.2 percent, chronic malnutrition at 31.4 percent and underweight at 31.6 percent. "

In addition to the malfunction of the management of aid provided, many voices, too, denounce outright embezzlement of food products brought by UN agencies as well as humanitarian organizations working in this field.

In this connection a helpful journalistic investigation conducted by Al Oula TV Channel, in the town of Zouerate in Mauritania highlighted the existence of a parallel market of goods from camps in Tindouf and bearing the labels of the humanitarian aid organizations that sent them.

This situation obliges people in Tindouf camps to protest against their situation that has lasted over 35 years, which is more and more unbearable.
