Mr Pargneaux welcomed the rejection of the resolution about throwing back the EU- Morocco fishing agreement before the European court of justice, asserting that this vote is “in the interest of the EU, good relations with Morocco and in the interest of the local population who live in the fishing sector”
The Euro – MP is mobilized to face this hostile maneuver, welcomed this “parliamentary victory which allows to strengthen the friendly and political ties between the kingdom of Morocco and The EU”
Reacting following this massif vote, Mr. Pargneaux told the MAP about his legal and political argument for the vote of his colleagues against the appeal to a legal advice of the European court.
According to him the EU – Morocco fishing agreement is “perfectly compatible with the international law and the local population can make use of it, including in the Sahara” .
Morocco which has “ always cooperated closely with all transparency needed with the European parliament intended from the beginning of the year to transmit to the European parliament copies of information to the European commission about the fishing agreement and its regional fallout” Mr. Pargnaux indicated.
He also underlined that the resolution proposal was « a political approach not a legal one. It was by nature to stop the democratic debate in the European parliament concerning the fishing agreement” aiming at “stopping the approbation procedure of the agreement” waiting for a legal advice.
Going back to the reject of the resolution, the chairman of the UE- Morocco friendship group was again delighted for this vote by the European parliament which “highly embodies the democratic legitimacy of the EU and could not go against its well being”
