The Chairman of the Royal advisory council for Saharan affairs Mr Khalihenna Ould Errachid, had talks Monday evening in Rabat with the UN personal envoy to the Sahara Mr.  Christopher Ross.



The talk took place with the presence of the general secretary of  Corcas , Mr Maouelainin Ben Khalihenna maouelainin and the vice chairman of the council Khadad El  Moussaoui.

Previously Mr. Ross was received by his Majesty king Mohammed VI. In a statement to the press following the audience With His Majesty King Mohammed V I at the royal palace in Casablanca, Mr Ross expressed his gratitude to the King for the audience.

“my visit to Morocco comes within the framework of the extension of my fourth tour in the region as part of the mission I was put in charge by the UN general secretary “, asserted Mr Ross, making it clear that this tour aims at preparing the third informal meeting expected to take place at the beginning of November .
 
“this meeting, he added, will take place between the kingdom of Morocco and the Polisario front with the presence of  the two neighbors Algeria and Mauritania , in order to reach a just and lasting political settlement between the two parties, which guaranties  the people of Western Sahara the right of self determination, and this with the support of the countries of the region , particularly the two neighbors “.
 
In this matter , Mr Ross underlined “  officials have expressed, during the four stages ( Algiers ,  The region of Tindouf ,  Nouakchott  and the kingdom of Morocco) their entire  disposal to support my efforts and those of the  UN in general”.

Mr Ross asserted that his talks in the kingdom of Morocco “dealt with the political situation in the entire region”.
 
“we have also discussed the necessity to overcome the present situation,  terms of the negotiations and the  progress of measures in order to establish confidence” he indicated.

The UN official added that his talks have equally dealt with “ the utmost necessity to ease the tension, and avoid anything which darkens the atmosphere , or to  hinder  the progress during the next round of negotiations which , I hope, will pave the way  to some tangible steps towards a settlement”.

The Personal envoy arrived to Morocco on Friday, in the framework of a tour in the region.
 
Mr. Ross has visited in his tour Algiers , Nouakchott , in order to lead consultations  with the parties concerned.
