Chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, Khalihenna Ould Errachid, received Wednesday, September 15, 2010, a delegation from the French Senate, composed of members of France-Morocco friendship group.



In a statement to the first Moroccan television channel after meeting with Mr. Khalihenna, Ould Errachid , president of the delegation Mr. Christian Cambon, who is also chairman of the France-Morocco friendship group and Vice President of the Regional Council of Ile de France, said that "Morocco has presented a serious and realistic initiative: autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty."

French Senator considers that "compared to other proposals, or rather to the lack of any other proposal," the Moroccan proposal is "a constructive basis for a final settlement of the issue to end the situation of populations maintained against their will in Tindouf.

During the meeting, Corcas chairman and members of the delegation of French Senators reviewed the latest developments on this issue, particularly the question of negotiations and the momentum made by the Moroccan autonomy initiative recognized by the international community as "serious and credible".

The meeting was attended from the Corcas side by Corcas Secretary General, Dr. Maouelainin Benkhalihenna Maouelainin et Corcas Vice President Mr Khadad El Moussaoui.

The delegation headed by Mr. Christian Cambon, was composed of Senators, Catherine Morin Desailly, Bariza Khiary, Alain Gourmac, Jacques Blanc, Jean Pierre Plancade, Jean Pierre Michel and Jackie Pierre.

They belong to the parliamentary groups of the Union for a Popular Movement (UMP-in power), the Socialist Party (left opposition), Centrist Union (CU) and European Democratic and Social Rally (RDSE-liberal) .

The French Senate delegation pays from 15 to 17 September a working visit to Morocco marked by a tour to the southern provinces to reaffirm France's support to Moroccan autonomy proposal for Western Sahara, said Monday to MAP Mr. Christian Cambon.
