Macedonian Foreign Minister Antonio Milososki reiterated his country's support for the Moroccan initiative to grant substantial autonomy to the southern provinces, a statement of the Foreign ministry said.

Milososki, who held talks in Skopje with visiting Moroccan State Secretary to the Foreign ministry Latifa Akharbach, voiced his country's attachment to the principle of observing the States' territorial integrity and national sovereignty, the statement said.

During her visit scheduled January 21-22, Akharbach met with several high-ranking Macedonian officials on the means of beefing up political dialogue and economic and cultural partnerships between Morocco and Macedonia.

Akharbach reaffirmed Morocco's determination to reach a negotiated political solution to the Sahara issue, within the framework of the Moroccan autonomy proposal and in conformity with the spirit of realism and compromise stated in the UN Security Council’s latest resolutions, the same source added.

In a meeting with Macedonian counterpart Abdulkadar Memedi, the Moroccan official expressed Morocco's steadfast commitment, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, to promote its participative local democracy through the implementation of an extensive regionalization, particularly in the southern provinces.

She also expressed the Kingdom's strong disapproval of the separatists' brazen instrumentalization of human rights while being the cause behind the dire humanitarian conditions of people held captive in Tindouf camps, the source said.
