Mexico wants to help find a "negotiated, just and sustainable" solution to the Sahara issue, said on Wednesday in Rabat, the Mexican Minister of Foreign Affairs, Patricia Espinosa.

In a statement to the press after her meeting with the Chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS), Mr. Khalihenna Ould Errachid, Ms. Espinosa said she followed with "great interest" explanations presented on the latest developments of the issue of the Kingdom’s territorial integrity.

Mexico "will continue to observe in a very detailed way and also very closely" developments of this issue, "she said.

The foreign minister of Mexico also emphasized the convergence of views between the two countries on many regional and international issues, describing her visit to the Kingdom as "successful" and "positive".

For his part Mr. Khalihenna Ould Errachid said after the meeting that the attempts of certain individuals to gain support from foreign parties shall not affect the determination of Morocco to move forward in defense of its sovereignty and its territorial integrity under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.

Corcas chairman said that these attempts "are the work of parties who seek to undermine the gains made by the Kingdom in the political and diplomatic fields."

The Moroccan Sahara was recovered by the Green March and the involvement of all Moroccans," he said, adding that the action continues today under autonomy plan which is a civilizational and political project based on Morocco's sovereignty and respect of its constants.

All those who had tried in the past to affect the territorial integrity of Morocco failed, and their plans will never succeed, he said stressing the progress made by Morocco and the Sahrawi consensus around the autonomy project.

During this visit, Ms. Espinosa talked to Prime Minister Abbas El Fassi and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Taib Fassi Fihri.
