A delegation from the Austro-Moroccan Institute (OMI) completed a tour in the Sahara region last Saturday and Sunday. This tour which aims to assess the overall situation in the southern provinces, began in Laayoune then Dakhla where the delegation met with several association officials of human rights.



At this meeting representatives of local associations of Human Rights, introduced to the OMI delegation a status report of the tragedy experienced by Moroccan nationals held in the Polisario camps in Tindouf, including reports cases of enforced disappearance in the camps.

"We introduced the current situation of crimes committed by the Polisario Front against Sahrawis as well as the manipulation of which it is guilty ... We also noted that Amnesty International had prepared reports with conclusions requiring the Algerian State to halt such practices and present Polisario torturers to international justice ", said after the meeting Mr. Dahi Akkaya, President of the Association of missing families in the Polisario camps in a report, broadcast at 2M News evening on Sunday. 

The delegation of the Austro- Moroccan Institute heard testimony from former victims. "We have listened carefully to the testimonies that were given on the actual cases of torture committed in the Polisario camps. A reality that we will pass on to those whom it concerns" said Ms. De Bonfoi member of OMI delegation.  

For his part, Mr. Franz Mchina, President of the Austro- Moroccan Institute, said that "Sahrawis in the camps on Algerian territory suffer so much. They expect to return to live among their own families. Everyone wants to be back here to live in peace. "

Founded 12 years ago in Vienna, the Austro-Moroccan Institute contributes to the cultural rapprochement between Austria and Morocco.
