“ there is a same view between a large majority of French MP’s and the Moroccan government” about the Sahara question , declared Mr Boucheron to the MAP, following a meeting last Wednesday in Paris between the Moroccan minister of cooperation and foreign affairs Mr Taib Fassi Fihri and members of the Foreign affairs commission at the national assembly .
“A large majority of French MP’s consider that the solution of the Sahara issue” has to be achieved through “a substantial autonomy under the Moroccan sovereignty “he asserted.
After underlying “the fundamental role that Morocco plays” in terms of security and development in the region. The French deputy added that “internal problems in Algeria create problems in the Sahara “
In this regard he indicated that “as long as Algeria has not solved its own internal problems, there will be tension in this area”
In a similar statement, the movement pour la France’s deputy ( MPF) Mr Dominique Souchet asserted that ‘ a large majority of the foreign affairs committee at the national assembly tend to support the Moroccan position “
Underlying his “deep attachment to Morocco and to the French – Moroccan friendship” Mr Souchet made it clear that he had perceived during his long journey in Morocco “the main importance “that Moroccans grant to the territorial integrity issue.
Mr Souchet has deplored the Algerian attitude to keep its borders closed with Morocco” in a unilateral manner, and refuse any dialogue at the government level in every field” with the kingdom.
