Moroccans and particularly the resistance family commemorate this Tuesday the 40th anniversary of the recovery of Sidi Ifni.  30th of June 1969 is seen as an important date in the process of completion of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco.



This event is celebrated on yearly basis in the atmosphere of joy and pride by all Moroccans who insist to give a vibrant tribute to the great nationalists and patriots, male and female, led by the liberator of the nation late king Mohamed V, and the guide of struggle for the completion of the territorial integrity late king Hassan II .

 The brave members of the Ait Baamrane tribe have given, in this occasion, a real proof of courage, nationalism and struggle against the colonialism, by doing so they have signed a glorious page of the history of Morocco. We mention particularly the Ait baamrane uprising against the occupation, which had decided to impose the Spanish nationality to the inhabitants of the area in 1946.  These tribes have been even the main component of the national resistance in the southern part of Morocco, and the provider of nationalists in the northern part with arms through their cells of resistance, by doing so they have confirmed their attachment to their homeland and to the Alaouite throne.

 Thinks to its strategic position, and its natural resources, Sidi Ifni was desired by Spain which occupied it in 1934, and declared it as “the capital of the Spanish north African government”

 The 1934 uprising of the Ait Baamrane tribes under the leadership of the glorious Alaouite throne and with a close collaboration with the resistance family constitutes another important step towards the recovery of freedom and independence.

 In 1963, late king Hassan II had sized the opportunity during a stop in Madrid to remind the Spanish head of state of the time that Morocco means with all legitimacy to recover Sidi Ifni.

 After a lengthy negotiations engaged under the auspices of the UN, Morocco insisted on his legal and historical rights to recover this part of Morocco, the Moroccan flag was raised in the sky of Sidi Ifni the 30 th of June 1969, to the joy and happiness of th Moroccan nation.

 Sidi Ifni had the privilege to greet late king Hassan II, who gave it the importance and interest given to the other part of south of the country.
