"This proposal was put forward in good faith," he said in a statement to the press following a meeting, here Thursday, with Prime minister, Abbas El Fassi.
The Moroccan project deserves "to be scrutinised carefully and given special attention by the nations of the world, particularly during discussions at the United Nations," according to Kaine, whose visit to Morocco is part of the efforts aimed at strengthening relations between Morocco and the U.S.
On this occasion, he stressed the excellent relations between Morocco and the U.S. which date back to the 1780"s, underlining his country"s resolve to further reinforce them, notably in the political and economic fields.
Governor Kaine highlighted the progress Morocco achieved in the field of human rights, saying that he finds "the efforts to move even further ahead gratifying."
In this respect, he hailed the will of Moroccan government to “recruit more women in the upcoming local elections.”
During this meeting, the Moroccan premier underscored the large-scale development projects launched in the kingdom in the economic, social and political fields.
Accompanied by a delegation of businessmen, the governor of the State of Virginia kicked off on Thursday a working visit to Morocco, where he is to have talks with various Moroccan officials.
