Participants in the 2nd Policy Conference of the Coalition for Autonomy in the Sahara (AUSACO), held Tuesday in Dakhla, called for a redefinition of the United Nations' approach to the Moroccan Sahara dispute, citing shifting geopolitical dynamics.

Italian parliamentarians said that the autonomy plan put forward by Morocco is a serious, credible and realistic solution that now stands out as a preferred path towards a peaceful settlement of this conflict.

Participants at a high-level symposium held Saturday in Casablanca as part of the Crans Montana Forum emphasized that the Dakhla Atlantic Port constitutes a strategic pillar for breaking the isolation of Sahel countries and strengthening South-South economic cooperation.

Slovenia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Tanja Fajon, highlighted on Friday that her country appreciates the Moroccan autonomy initiative, presented by Morocco in 2007 as a good basis for a definitive solution to the regional dispute created over the Moroccan Sahara.

The Republic of Croatia sees the autonomy plan, proposed by Morocco in 2007 to settle the regional dispute over its Sahara, as a “good basis to reach a political solution” to this issue./div>
