Macedonian Secretary of State for the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Abdulkader Memedi, reaffirmed, Monday in Rabat, his country's support for Morocco's project to grant substantial autonomy to its southern provinces, the Sahara, within the Kingdom's sovereignty.

The mass rally of Saharawis fleeing Tindouf camps (southwestern Algeria) to return to Morocco has continued with the arrival this weekend in the region of Oued Eddahab-Lagouira of a new group of 27 individuals.

The last resolution adopted by the Security Council raised, in addition to the Moroccan reaction, reactions of key members of the UN body, who reaffirmed the credibility and seriousness of the Moroccan autonomy initiative, underscored by Resolution 1920 making it a solid basis for negotiation for a political solution to Sahara issue.

Several U.S. congressmen urged on Thursday the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon to strengthen the negotiations process on the basis of the Moroccan autonomy initiative in the Sahara qualified by the Security Council as "serious" and "credible".

An international NGO denounced the instrumentalization by Algeria of the Sahara conflict to serve its strategic interests, urging the UN Security Council to stop human rights violations in Tindouf camps (south-western Algeria).
