A group of U.S. human rights NGOs sent a letter to the United Nations Secretary-General Ban ki-moon on the "precarious" living conditions in the Tindouf camps (Algeria's south-west) and the "vulnerable" situation of the population held against their will in these camps.
 

A group of congressmen have called in a letter addressed to the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for more support for autonomy in the Sahara, proposed by Morocco and for legitimate rights of the people still held hostage by Polisario in Tindouf camps.

Morocco's ambassador to Spain, Ahmadou Souilem, has said that most influential powers support Morocco's autonomy initiative for its southern provinces.

The polisario tried to cancel, from the New York African Film Festival (NYAFF), the documentary "Stolen" which highlights the pro-slavery practices in the Tindouf camps (Algeria's south-west), the Festival's organizers said.

A document by UN Secretary General on the Sahara issue, which was recently published on the Internet, has "no status", Spokesperson for the UN Secretary General, Martin Nesirky said on Thursday in New York.
