French magazine ‘Jeune Afrique’ highlighted, on Friday, the diplomatic impetus surrounding the opening of consulates from brotherly countries in Morocco's southern provinces, echoing the inauguration of the Republic of Chad’s consulate general in Dakhla on August 14.

Morocco's permanent representative to the UN, Ambassador Omar Hilale, sent a response letter to the President and members of the Security Council following the provocative and misleading statement of the Secretary General of the ministry of Foreign Affairs of Algeria regarding the Moroccan Sahara issue during a meeting of the Council, stressing that the Algerian delegate, as usual, gave free rein to his country's Moroccan-phobia and its unhealthy obsession with the Moroccan Sahara.

The Republic of Chad reiterated, on Wednesday in Dakhla, its « constant position in favor of Morocco's territorial integrity and sovereignty over the whole of its territory, including the Sahara region ».

France's decision to support Morocco's sovereignty over its Sahara region puts the relationship between the two countries back on track, according to geopolitics expert Emmanuel Dupuy.

France’s support to Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara is a “true diplomatic turning point,” said French Institute for International and Strategic Affairs (IRIS) director, Pascal Boniface.
