Asharq Al Awsat daily in its July 15, citing U.S. official sources, denied rumors that have circulated in recent weeks, according to which the new U.S. administration has changed its position on Sahara issue.

Morocco's stance on the Sahara issue has been boosted by the increasing international support for the Kingdom's autonomy proposal, said Sudanese paper "Al Rai Al'am".

French Foreign Minister, Bernard Kouchner, said Morocco's proposal to grant autonomy to its southern provinces, the Sahara, "deserves to be discussed seriously," adding that the option of a referendum "has not worked so far."

"Al Moharir Al Arbi" weekly appearing in Beirut, criticized the position of Algeria regarding the issue of Morocco’s territorial unity, stressing that through its support to the Polisario, Algeria positioned as "part of separatism, fragmentation and disintegration of ranks".

Algeria is still attached to past complexes, including the " Moroccan complex" and the obsession of regional hegemony, when terrorists have changed their methods and strategies, stressed Monday the Lebanese daily "Al-Mostaqbal.
