Spain should follow the path laid by US President Donald Trump by recognizing Morocco's sovereignty over the Sahara in order to contribute to the stability of the western Mediterranean, underlines Spanish expert Pedro Canales.

The opening of a United States of America consulate in Dakhla will support the development process in the southern provinces in general, and in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region in particular, president of the Regional Council El Khattat Yanja said on Wednesday. 

The United Nations Security Council held, on Monday, at the request of Germany, closed doors consultations on the latest developments of the Moroccan Sahara issue.

The US decision to recognize the full sovereignty of Morocco over its Sahara is a final step that should bring everyone to integrate the reality, said Henri Frelinx, Vice-President of Belgian association "Friends of Morocco".
