Security Council Resolution 2797, adopted on October 31, 2025, codified the autonomy solution proposed by Morocco as the sole and unique basis for negotiations to resolve the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara, within the framework of the Kingdom's sovereignty and territorial integrity, said on Friday in Vienna, Morocco's Permanent Representative to the UN Office and International Organizations in Vienna, Azzeddine Farhane.

Niger welcomed on Tuesday the adoption by the UN Security Council of historic Resolution 2797, which enshrines, within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty, the autonomy plan proposed by the Kingdom as a serious, credible, and lasting basis for achieving a solution to the issue of the Moroccan Sahara.

The European Parliament on Wednesday rejected a motion of objection submitted by certain right-wing and far-right political groups against the draft delegated act presented by the European Commission. This act forms part of the Commission’s implementation of the commitments arising from the exchange of letters signed between Morocco and the European Union on October 3 concerning the export of Moroccan agricultural products to the European market.

Last Friday in Laayoune, parliamentary speakers and heads of parliamentary delegations, members of the African Parliamentarians Network for Development Evaluation, affirmed the strategic importance of parliamentary evaluation in strengthening the foundations of democratic governance, promoting transparency, and reinforcing responsibility and accountability.

The Ghanaian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, welcomed on Thursday in Rabat the adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797 on the Sahara.
