Morocco's ambassador to the European Communities, Menouar Alem, on Friday, drew the attention of the European Commission's Humanitarian Aid Office (ECHO) on the use and the real destination of the Community aid destined to the Sahrawi population held against its will in Tindouf, Southwest Algeria.

During a meeting with ECHO's head, Peter Zanghl, Mr.Alem, reiterated Morocco's attachment to the fact that aids should reach the real beneficiaries, noting that Morocco, which hails EU's action for the benefit of its citizens held against their will in these camps of fortune, continues to call on the international community to use all its influence so that a census of Tindouf population be held.

The Kingdom has always advocated that the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) can fulfill its mission without obstacles to finally stop the humanitarian blackmail, which involves the "Polisario" leadership, Mr.Alem went on to say, recalling that several NGOs which are well-known for their impartiality agreed on the existence of proven embezzlement cases of humanitarian aid, which is sold in the Algerian market and in other countries in the region.

The personal enrichment of the "Polisario" nomenclature at the expense of people held against their will in Tindouf, the massive expenditures to hold festivities for which thousands of people are displaced over hundreds of kilometers, and the construction projects in the demilitarized buffer zone are just so many facts that the international community and the EU should question, he concluded.
