Kenya informs AU of its decision to freeze recognition of so-called SADR

  Kenyan authorities has brought to the attention of the African Union Commission their decision to freeze their recognition of the so-called Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), said a joint statement issued following the official visit of the Moroccan foreign minister, Mohammed Benaissa, to Kenya on June 24th through 26th,2007.

UNSC hopes parties engage in substantial negotiations next August

 The United Nations Security Council expressed, on Wednesday, its hope the parties involved in the Sahara issue will use the next round of negotiations, billed for August 10-11 to engage "in good faith in substantial negotiations" to solve the issue.

U.S. says Morocco's autonomy proposal for Sahara respects self-determination principle

The United States described Morocco's proposal to grant autonomy to its Southern Provinces, The Sahara, as the "realistic and promising" path towards the settlement of the 30-year-old dispute between Morocco and the Algeria-backed Polisario separatists.

UNSC resolution over Sahara issue 'interesting', French president

Visiting French president, Nicolas Sarkozy, said, on Tuesday in Algier, that the UN Security Council resolution (1754 of April 30, 2007) on Sahara is "interesting," denying that this issue is a bone of contention between France and Algeria."
