The President of the Belgian Senate Mrs. Anne-Marie Lizin on met Tuesday in Brussels a delegation of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs led by the President of the Council, Mr. Khalihenna Ould Errachid  who made a presentation on self-rule in the Sahara and the tasks entrusted to him by His Majesty King Mohammed VI .


Mr. Khalihenna Ould Errachid said that enlarged autonomy proposed by Morocco fits the position of the international community aimed at finding a compromise solution, and lays the foundations for a final settlement that satisfies all parties.

Moroccan delegation also held talks with Mr. Andrey Kerton, who is responsible for international affairs at the Humanitarian Democratic Party (Major French-speaking party), who in turn, praised the autonomy initiative.

He said that this initiative is "going in the right direction to overcome the stereotypes of the conflict that erupted during the Cold War."

The delegation also met with Senator Pierre Galand of the Belgian Socialist Party and with Mrs. Isabelle Durrant, Chairwoman of Environment Party and Jusi Depie from the same party.
