"Gross and repeated" human rights breaches in the Camps of Tindouf, southwestern Algeria, correspond to the real policy of the Polisario, revealed here an independent Investigation commission on Human Rights violations in Tindouf.

"The Polisario and its organs are responsible for the serious ongoing human rights breaches in Tindouf Camps, ranging from extra-judiciary abduction and killing to sequestration, torture and compulsory work," reads a report presented Wednesday by this Commission.

The Algeria-backed "Polisario" has been inflicting untold suffering to Sahrawis living in the camps of Tindouf, after these Moroccan citizens were lured into the camps in the mid-seventies by false propaganda and the movement's claim to separate the Moroccan southern provinces, known as the Sahara, from the motherland.

These "gross and repeated" human rights breaches, writes the document, were made possible due to the Algerian abstention from taking the necessary preventive measures to cease violence."

The report urges “Algeria to cease its collaboration with the repressive Polisatio apparatus and to spare no efforts to identify those who are guilty of complicity in crimes and abuses (…) and present them before justice.”

The document calls on “Polisario” to open immediately and with no conditions the camps of Tindouf to all Human rights NGOs and commissions and to put an end to the forced displacement of Sahrawi children to Cuba.

The international body also bids the UN, the UE and all the countries granting humanitarian aid for the Tindouf camps to refer to the International penal Court to carry out an investigation on human rights breaches perpetrated by the separatist movement.

Speaking at a press conference on the fringes of the report presentation, Claude Moniquet, Chairman of the European Strategic Intelligence and Security Center (ESISC) stressed the commission’s intention to publish a list of the torturers involved in human rights breaches in the Tindouf Camps.

“I am astonished to see European deputies, journalists and NGOs addressing Polisario torturers,” he said, deploring that several of them have never been punished for what they did.
