The President of the Republic of The Gambia, Adama Barrow, reaffirmed Thursday before the UN General Assembly (UNGA), the strong support of his country for Morocco's autonomy initiative for a final settlement of the regional dispute over the Sahara.


"The Government of The Gambia reaffirms its strong support for the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative, which convincingly serves as a realistic compromise in accordance with UN resolutions," he said in an address during the General Debate of the 77th session of the UNGA.
The Gambian head of state also called on the international community to support Morocco's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The high-level segment of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly opened Tuesday in New York, with the participation of heads of state, government and delegations of the 193 UN member states.
