Tunisian political analyst Mohamed Najib El-Wargi confirmed that the speech addressed to the nation by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, on the occasion of the twenty-second anniversary of the Throne Day, has a special character and  historical dimension.

Former director general of the Tunisian News Agency, added, in a statement to the Maghreb Arab Agency, that His Majesty the King, by sending once again a sincere appeal from the heart to the Algerian brothers, calls for wisdom, pragmatism, consideration of the interests of the two peoples and the reopening of a new page on the basis of mutual trust, unity of destiny and common interests.

He pointed out that this "discourse of truth and wisdom" was at the same time a strong moment during which His Majesty the King reiterated his keenness to break the ice between Morocco and Algeria, and to overcome the misunderstanding that plagued bilateral relations and harmed the interests of the two countries and their peoples.

He wondered: Isn't it time to get the relations between the two countries out of the current stalemate, which was harmful on more than one level, and look to the future differently, by focusing on what unites the two countries by history and geography?

According to the former editor-in-chief of the Tunisian magazine “Réalités” and the newspaper “La Presse”, the throne speech was, at the same time, a precious opportunity to reaffirm the need of Morocco and Algeria to put an end to the loss caused by many years of misunderstanding and difficulties that can only be overcome with wisdom and sanity.

Mohamed Najib El Warghi pointed out that the appeal of His Majesty King Mohammed VI confirms that it is still possible to compensate for all that has been lost, as long as the higher interests of the two peoples are truly taken into account.

He believed that this speech shows, in this regard, a lot of sincerity, wisdom, a willingness to look to the future and a strong touch of pragmatism, adding that honesty and pragmatism are embodied in the call to reopen the closed borders for more than 27 years now.

He added that His Majesty the King emphasized placing the supreme interests of the two countries and their peoples above all considerations, based on the deep conviction of their common destiny and the belief in the necessity of the victory of wisdom, expressing his hope that the Algerian authorities, this time, would respond to this extended hand and act according to the true course of history.

On the other hand, he pointed out that "it is clear that the royal speech provided a renewed opportunity to measure the importance of the achievements made by Morocco and challenges it was able to face under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI."

He said that His Majesty the King expressed in this speech his firm determination to move forward so that Morocco could continue its march towards progress, common prosperity and sustainable development.

He said that in an often hesitant international and regional context, Morocco was able to launch an effective response against the Covid-19 epidemic, and succeeded in the "battle for access to vaccines" and launched a pilot project to manufacture vaccines, medicines and medical equipment.

He pointed out that on the economic front, the indicators of the Moroccan economy's recovery are strengthening, and the country is now gradually recovering its maximum potential.

He added that on the social level, a revolution is taking place thanks to the work of the Special Committee on the New Model of Development, whose proposals set the foundations of a societal project that eliminates exclusion and marginalization and allows millions of Moroccans to obtain good health care and social security.
