The chairman of the Advisory Council for Human Rights, Mr. Ahmed Harzanni said that Algeria is "responsible for" the suffering of the Moroccans detained in the Tindouf camps



Speaking at the Hiwar programme aired by the first television channel Tuesday evening, in response to a question about the possibility to the use international law by Morocco regarding "Tindouf detention center" like Guantanamo, he said " we have as Moroccans to focus on this issue" stressing that "the brotherly Algerian state bear responsibility for "the suffering of the Moroccans detained in Tindouf camps."

Mr. Harzanni described Morocco's position to avoid rupture and confrontation with Algeria, as «wise stance.
He stressed that the issue of human rights respect saw noticeable development in the security bodies, adding that there are various cooperation programmes between the Consultative Council for Human Rights and these entites in the field of education on human rights".

Regarding the Equity and Reconciliation Commission, Mr. Hazanni stated that the main purpose of its creation was a transition from a stage that does not respect the law to a phase respecting the law and free of serious violations, noting in this regard the reports by international organizations on the works done by Morocco in Human rights particularly during the last two years

concerning the activation of the Council’s recommendations, Mr. Harzanni pointed out that 12 thousand people, victims of past violations were compensated and 12 thousand families enjoy access to health coverage (about 45 thousand people).

With regard to collective reparation, he pointed out that a number of local entitties were created in 11 marginalized and that programmes on these institutions will enter into force in the next few days

Regarding the disclosure of people’s unknown fate, he said that the number of these cases does not exceed 22 cases out of 1200 cases at the beginning of the Commission's work.

Regarding human rights in the Sahara, he said that thanks to the implementation of the instructions by His Majesty King Mohammed VI regional offices belonging to the council were created adding that the Council refuted the allegations by some international organizations on the existence of violations in the Southern provinces.
