US NGO "Teach the Children International" (TCI) questioned American senator James Inhofe on his support for the polisario, while its leadership has been making "daily decisions that have kept the people sequestered in austere conditions for over 45 years in the Tindouf camps."

In a letter to the Republican senator, the NGO Head Nancy Huff highlighted the reasons why she strongly supports the Moroccan autonomy plan and urged the representative of the State of Oklahoma to do the same.

Huff stated that the polisario leaders have no track record of serving the people who live in the Tindouf camps, and there is no reason to believe, given a chance, they would serve the Sahrawi population.

Huff recalled that, for seven years, she facilitated sending ocean-going containers of food and medical supplies to the Tindouf camps. "The aid was intended for the population, but soon, I realized that wheelchairs, medical supplies, and food never reached the camps, let alone the population," she added.

She also recalled that, in 2015, the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) issued their report on the Sahara that explained the Polisario and Algerian generals' role as they openly diverted the containers of aid to the black market at every juncture of the transportation from the Port of Oran to the camps.

"I witnessed that the population in the camps remained in great need while the Polisario prospered," the president of the US NGO stressed, noting that, the fact that the people were not receiving the aid I sent, nor were they receiving aid sent to them by the World Food Program and the European Union’s humanitarian assistance made me discontinue sending any aid that passed through Polisario control.

These aids destined for the Tindouf Camps never arrive and the theft continues, Huff insisted, comparing Communist leaders in Eastern Europe and Russia to the polisario leadership which can travel, has homes in other countries, and has resources while the average person from the camps has no such privileges.

She also criticized the polisario, supported by countries like Algeria, Cuba and Venezuela, for using the population in the camps for its purposes, as demonstrated in the recent events in the Guergerat.

"The Polisario broke a cease-fire agreement and used the Sahrawi youth from the camps to occupy this UN buffer zone, established to ensure peace in the region. The use of youth as aggressors is a prime example of the Polisario’s misuse of the very people they are supposed to be protecting," she underscored.

On Morocco's noteworthy development in the southern provinces, Huff recalled that Morocco has invested billions of dollars and developed modern cities, stressing that Sahrawis who live in the Sahara "live freely, in stark contrast to those who live in the camps."

"That is why I strongly support the Moroccan autonomy plan and urge you to do the same," she reiterated, recalling that Morocco and the USA have had relations since 1777, when the Kingdom was the first country to recognize this country as an independent nation.

"As a nation, we should never forget our friends. (..) Our government, which has just recognized Morocco's sovereignty over its Sahara, has continuously supported Morocco's autonomy plan throughout the presidencies of Bill Clinton, George Bush, Barack Obama and Donald Trump," she concluded.
