 The city of Dakhla has been designated to house the headquarters of the African Network of Francophonie with Driss Guerraoui appointed President, unanimously by the members of the Network’s Board of Directors.
In addition, the Maison de la Francophonie in Dakhla has become since July 7, a founding member of the International Network of Maison de la Francophonie, and Guerraoui member of its provisional office, indicates a press release from the African network.
The objective of this international network is to create a "Global Village of Francophone Homes", called to become the voice of civil society in countries sharing the French language.
In addition to the Maison de la Francophonie in Dakhla, the Board of Directors of the Africa Network includes the Houses of Burundi (Bujumbura), Cameroon (Yaoundé), Côte d'Ivoire (Abidjan), Tunisia (Tunis) , Democratic Republic of Congo (Kinshasa), Equatorial Guinea (Bata), and Senegal (Ngoundiane).
Created under the aegis of the Open University of Dakhla on December 25, 2019, the Maison de la Francophonie is a non-governmental associative structure under Moroccan law which constitutes a space for reflection, debate and action around the French-speaking world, continues the press release.
This association will lead, under direct consultation between the presidency of the Open University of Dakhla, elected officials, local authorities, civil society and actors of the education system, actions that can bring added value to the educational and development structures of the city and the region.
