Major Event

The construction in progress of an expressway of more than 1000 km between Tiznit and Dakhla via Laâyoune, is “a titanic project with a notable strategic impact which will positively influence human, economic and cultural exchanges between the Kingdom of Morocco and countries like Mauritania, Senegal or Mali ”, wrote the Malijet information portal on Saturday.

“This road project of 1 billion Euros while Morocco has no gas or oil will have an impact on the daily life of a population of millions of inhabitants, over 10 Provinces in southern Morocco and its funding will be provided by the Moroccan State and four Regions , Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra, Guelmim-Oued Noun, Dakhla-Oued Eddahab and Souss-Massa, whose inhabitants of the Moroccan Sahara precisely are seeing a dream to materialize ”, underlines the author.
"Beyond its impact on the final anchoring of the Southern Provinces in their natural fold, this new road will also have a pan-African dimension which will give it an undeniable strategic scope".“This project will reduce the time and cost of transport, improve traffic flow, level of service, comfort and road safety and will facilitate the transport of goods between the cities of southern Morocco and the major production and distribution ”, according to the Malian media.
This titanic project,  subject of a partnership agreement signed before HM King Mohammed VI in Laâyoune in 2015, is part of the new development model for the Provinces of southern Morocco.“In a little over a year, the painful crossing of the winding bends between Tiznit and Guelmim, or sandy roads between Tan-Tan and Laayoune or Laayoune and Dakhla, used daily by hundreds of heavy trucks loaded with fish, will be a pleasure for motorists instead of being a real nightmare”, continues the Malian publication.
“Thus, after great exploits like high speed train, Tanger Med port and the Noor complex, Morocco is adding this beautiful work to the register of its spectacular adventures because in addition to honoring a solemn commitment taken before HM the King of Morocco, it is a question of succeeding a nerve center project which will shape the future of the Provinces of the South of Morocco ”, said Malijet.
