The Regional Directorate of Agriculture (DRA) of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab has announced the 2nd step of the Emergency Program to combat the effects of rain shortage and safeguard the livestock for the  agricultural campaign 2019-2020.


1,500 farmers have benefited from the first part of this program, which concerns the supply and distribution subsidized barley and transport of other livestock, said a press release from the DRA of Dakhla- Oued Eddahab.


The main axes of the 2nd step of the said program relate to the supply and distribution of additional quantities of subsidized barley for a price of 200 MAD per quintal, while the State covers the difference with the market price and costs of the operation of transport, said the press release.




Likewise, the Regional Directorate of Agriculture will subsidize other animal feeds such as compound feeds at the price of 200 MAD per quintal with transport costs covered.


This second step also relates to the payment of transport costs for other unsubsidized livestock feed, from their various production areas in the Kingdom to the routes in the region.




Regarding the watering component of the livestock, the second step of the program concerns digging, fitting out and equipping water points.It also relates to the acquisition and distribution of flexible tanks for the mobilization and storage of water for the benefit of breeders, as well as the mobilization of a fleet of tank trucks for watering livestock, particularly in the areas not having a well, specifies the same source.


It should be noted that all of these actions, planned in perfect coordination with all local partners, are taking place in a "normal" manner, in accordance with the preventive measures taken against Covid-19.


At the same time, the relevant departments of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab Regional Directorate of Agriculture monitor daily and vigilantly the development of indicators for the agricultural season and are ready for any other complementary measures.
