In the current context of the health crisis caused by the spread of Covid-19, the Regional Tourism Council (CRT) of Dakhla Oued-Eddahab has implemented an ambitious and combative recovery plan for the post-containment period, with a view to encourage internal tourism, which is one of the pillars of the regional economy.


Given that the tourism sector has been confronted for three months with an unprecedented situation, the CRT of Dakhla Oued-Eddahab fully mobilized to boost local and internal tourism in the South, while working together with tourism professionals to promote the Dakhla destination, said a press release from the Dakhla Oued-Eddahab CRT
 CRT has put in place an action plan which revolves around four main axes, namely promotion, product development, communication and animation.
With regard to the promotional aspect, CRT published video and photo capsules on social networks to publicize the destination of Dakhla on a national scale, while putting a mobile application, in order to highlight the cultural heritage and natural wealth of the region, says the same source.


The action plan also provides for the development of specific products to enhance attractiveness. In this sense, particularity of the pearl of the South nestled in the heart of the Sahara between sea and desert, offers many opportunities for active tourism, such as seaside sports (board sports and surf-casting), SPA and well- be and hikes in the middle of the desert.


The promotion of internal tourism also requires a specific approach with Moroccan travel agencies.In this context, CRT has established partnerships with national travel agencies and has set up promotional packages, while offering visitors upon arrival, a welcome pack containing an anti-covid-19 behavior guide, a bottle of hydro-alcoholic gel, a washable cloth mask and a map of the city and region, as well as a brochure entitled “My holidays in Dakhla”, with useful addresses of tourist places, kit schools, SPA centers , cafes, restaurants, port, the central market, craft complex, different beaches and the best excursions.
This plan will also be accompanied by a communication strategy aimed at enhancing region's assets and consolidating its attractiveness to potential visitors.
 Around the message "Dakhla is waiting for you", it is diversity, richness and history of the region which will be highlighted to attract Moroccan tourists.
To better accommodate tourists, Dakhla will decorate its squares, its streets and its main avenues, with an entertainment program developed in collaboration with the regional tourism delegation and several partners including the Department of youth and sports for the organization of swimming competitions in the lagoon, fishing in surf-casting and animation at beaches), professional chambers (trade and craft fair) and Regional Investment Center organize open days dedicated to investment opportunities in the region.
