The President of the Colombian House of Representatives, Mr. Oscar Arboleda reaffirmed the strong support of this institution to the Moroccan initiative for autonomy in the Sahara and its support to Morocco's efforts aimed at achieving a political and final solution to the Sahara issue.  

Receiving the Moroccan Ambassador in Bogota, M. Mohamed Khattabi, the Colombian official paid tribute to the deep friendship and cooperation between the two countries, underlying the consolidation of democratic institutions in Morocco.

He also thanked the kingdom for its permanent support to Colombia and the efforts of President Alvaro Uribe to restore peace and security in Colombia.

In addition, Mr. Arboleda has denied categorically ill-intentioned information about alleged contacts between the Colombian Congress and the separatist movement "Polisario".

"There has been no official contact" with the separatist movement "Polisario," said Mr. Arboleda.

Mr. Khattabi was also received at the headquarters of the Colombian House of Representatives by Mr. Augusto Sanchez, president of the Parliamentary Commission for External Relations, Defense, National Security and Foreign Trade.

Speaking before the committee, Mr. Khattabi gave an overview on the latest developments of the Sahara issue and the autonomy initiative.
