In a press statement at Hassan 1er airport in Laayoune, the president of CAF thanked the Moroccan authorities and officials for the mobilization of the necessary means for the reception and the success of this great African competition and for building the necessary infrastructure to promote football and sport in general.
For his part, the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Faouzi Lekjaa said that the city of Laayoune and the southern provinces of the Kingdom in general, are now qualified to host the biggest sporting events at continental and thanks to the development policy conducted under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.
The opening ceremony of the 6th CAN of Futsal, which will continue until February 07, will take place on Tuesday afternoon.
The eight teams qualified for this edition were divided into 2 groups. Group A includes Morocco and Equatorial Guinea, Mauritius and Libya, while Group B is made up of Egypt, Guinea, Angola, Mozambique.
The first day of the competition will be marked by the organization of two matches: Equatorial Guinea will meet Mauritius and Morocco will be opposed and Libya.
This quadrennial African competition offers three tickets to the FIFA Futsal World Cup to be held from September 12 to October 4, 2020 in Lithuania.
