Bourita, who was speaking at a joint press briefing with his Rwandan peer, Richard Sezibera, praised the "constructive" role played by Rwanda at the African Union (AU) to get rid of "sterile, useless and out of touch debates” regarding the issue of the Moroccan Sahara.

For his part, Sezibera, who co-chaired with Bourita the first session of the Morocco-Rwanda Joint Committee, reiterated his country's commitment to making efforts with the aim of reaching a “fair solution” to the issue of the Moroccan Sahara, noting that the two countries are working together to advance the AU reform agenda.

Morocco and Rwanda coordinate their actions at the level of the African continent and particularly at the level of the AU, with the aim of making Africa’s voice heard at the international level, launching large-scale integration projects and providing the continent with an effective institutional instrument, he said.

HM King Mohammed VI appreciates the actions implemented by President Kagame in the framework of the AU reform process in order to meet the aspirations of African States and to turn the AU into an effective instrument that can defend the continent's interests at the regional and international levels, Bourita pointed out, adding that Morocco and Rwanda are working together on several issues in Africa.

Sezibera praised the Sovereign's wisdom and foresight in carrying out the AU reform agenda, as well as for his precious support to Rwandan President Paul Kagame, who initiated the AU reform.
